Q. I understand that the newspaper has to publish foreclosure notices.

Why does the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office get involved in foreclosures?

A. What is called the Civil Division is a state-mandated service of the Sheriff's Office. The division serves and executes various legal notices issued by and for civil courts, as well as for the legal community and the general public.

In the case of foreclosures, deputies serve papers and conduct property auctions under policies and procedures established by Minnesota law.
