To the Editor:
Last summer my son had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Kiwanis Safety Camp for grades 4 through 6. This all-day event was fun and educational for a small fee of $15.
My son learned about safety in many different fields, such as water, fire, bike, etc. Safety was presented by local professionals, hands-on experiences and real-life stories from people with firsthand experience.
In addition to the day of safety, Dawnbreakers Kiwanis provided a great lunch of delicious hamburgers and hot dogs and entertained the children with outdoor games.
To top the day off one lucky boy and one lucky girl were the proud winners of a new bike! However, all children went home with generous gifts.
I encourage parents to call Community Education to sign their child or children up for the safety camp on Aug. 5 at Minnesota State College-Southeast Technical. Your child will enjoy an educational, fun-filled day and bring home not only gifts but lessons that some day may save his or her life.
