Red Wing native Johnny Pohl (baseball cap) served as an instructor at Wingers boys hockey coach George Nemanich’s hockey camp Thursday at Prairie Island Arena. Pohl guided Red Wing to the 1997 Class A state title and went on to play three seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He and former Minnesota Gophers teammate Matt Koalska worked with players on power skating. “He just has a good time with kids,” Nemanich said of Pohl. “He’s good with kids.” Nemanich estimated that Pohl started helping him at the camps over a decade ago.
