Q. Why was Colvill pool closed Monday?

A. Colvill Aquatic Center stays closed on those days the temperature doesn’t reach 70 degrees by noon. That happened Monday.

In addition, the pool’s heater stopped working Sunday, which meant water wasn’t as warm as usual. The heater has been repaired.

The pool has a weather hotline this year. As soon as staff decides the pool won’t open, they record a message with the notice. The number is (651) 385-4569.

Here’s the Colvill pool closing policy:

The pool will not open when the temperature is below 70 degrees at noon.

Colvill pool may be closed at the discretion of the supervisor on duty for the day if one or more of the following criteria are met:

1) If there are fewer than seven patrons in the pool, the pool will close immediately.

2) There is lightning sighted in the vicinity or threatening weather is imminent.
