ProAct plans golf fundraiser Aug. 17 ProAct’s Golf Classic fundraiser returns to the Hastings Country Club Aug. 17. The 18-hole event begins with registration from 10 to 11:30 a.m., followed by an early lunch and a shotgun start at 11:45 a.m. An auction and a gourmet dinner will follow the game. The cost is $150 per golfer, which includes lunch and dinner, a golf cart and use of the facilities and driving range. The price for the dinner only is $35. ProAct serves people with disabilities and other challenges. There are facilities in Eagan, Red Wing and Zumbrota.

Tee It Up for the Troops on July 3

On July 3, the Jewel Golf Club in Lake City will hold Tee It Up for the Troops. The event will begin at noon with lunch and a color guard presentation followed by a four-person scramble at 1:30 p.m. Following the event, there will be an awards presentation.

Throughout the day there will be a silent auction. Proceeds will benefit the Tony Hebert Scholarship Fund and other various organizations.

Benefit scheduled for Tom Gwaltney

A day of youth baseball and an Serpents softball showdown are planned as a benefit for Tom Gwaltney. The Lake City Serpents manager has ALS. Action gets under way at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Lake City baseball field.
