The Red Wing Elks Soccer Shoot was held May 31 at A.P. Anderson Park for area youth. In the boys 7-and-under age division, Caleb Korder placed first, Braeden Hesselman took second and Ethan Cadmus-Bauer came in third.
In the 8- and 9-year-old division, Cayanne Korder won the girls contest while Carter Hesselman edged Courtney Korder in the boys competition.
Reagan Haley won the 12- and 13-year-old girls division. Allea Rea came in second.
Aaron Wildenborg won the boys title in the same age division. Tyler Rea was second and Miles Edstrom took third.
The winners in each age division advance to the District Shoot on July 18 in Apple Valley. They will compete against children from four other Elks-sponsored Shoots.
Children who compete in the 7-and-under and 8- and 9-year-old divisions take shots at a set of five small goals. The largest goal is worth one point and the smallest is worth five points. They kick three balls.
In the older division, children shoot 15 balls and they take aim at a regulation-size goal with a rope grid. The grid breaks the goal into seven regions and each region has a different point value.
