After a two-month closure, the local Super Lube, 111 Red Wing Ave., reopened June 1 under new management.
New owner Rick Carpenter led Super Lube's resurgence, rehiring staff, cleaning and repainting the once grimy shop.
It was a new beginning for both Carpenter and the Super Lube.
After becoming a victim of corporate downsizing last year, Carpenter, a long-time bicycle industry marketing representative, said he was ready to go into another business.
"I'm done with the bicycle industry and I'm open to anything," Carpenter said, recalling his mindset.
Carpenter looked into several types of business ventures but became enamored with the quick lube business. In the meantime he and his family chose to relocate in Red Wing.
So Carpenter worked out a deal with the owners of the local Super Lube building. The business — which had been run by another party — had shut down at the end of March.
So far the franchise has started with a bang. In the weeks since it opened, Carpenter said his Super Lube has been quite busy.
He added that his landlords are great partners. And the same is true of Super Lube, whom Carpenter said has delivered much support to his local franchise.
Super Lube shops specialize in oil-changes as well as other car maintenance procedures.
Anyone wanting to know about Super Lube's services may call the franchise's new number (651) 388-7505.
