The Minnesota Supreme Court last week suspended First District Court Judge Timothy Blakely with pay until July 9 when the high court will hear his case.

Goodhue County Court Administrator Yvonne Black said Blakely's absence - he serves as a part-time judge in Goodhue County - won't create scheduling problems for the court. Other judges will pick up his caseload.

Last month, the Minnesota Board on Judicial Standards asked the Supreme Court to remove Blakely from the bench because he used his judgeship to funnel divorce mediations to his lawyer in exchange for a $63,500 reduction to his own divorce bill.
