AUSTIN, Minn. – Randolph pitcher Ethan Kuehn held the Knights to two hits in 4 1/3 innings Saturday to help the Rockets advance in the Section 1A West tournament at Riverland Community College.

“Randolph has a very good sophomore pitcher,” said K-W coach Randy Hockinson, adding, “He just got ahead in the count, controlled his fastball. We just couldn’t get anything going.”

The Knights loaded the bases in the fifth inning with one out and managed just one run.

Freshman Oakley McLain started for K-W and went 3 2/3 innings. He allowed eight runs (seven earned) on nine hits while walking two and striking out one.

“Randolph hit the ball really well,” Hockinson said. “Their whole lineup hit the ball well.”

McLain finished 1-for-2 with a double, but he was thrown out when he tried to stretch it into a triple.

K-W finished the season 4-18 overall.

“They made all the plays on defense,” Hockinson said. “Their pitcher pitched well. They were just much better than we were today.”
