AUSTIN, Minn. — Junior Dylan Seifert was 4-for-4 with a double and four RBI to help the Knights advance in the Section 1A West Tournament at Riverland Community College. K-W finished with 15 hits and four players had multi-hit games.
The Knights (4-17 overall) play again 10 a.m. Saturday against No. 4 Randolph. K-W lost to the Knights 5-3 in eight innings on May 5.
"We just had real focused at bats," Knights coach Randy Hockinson said. "We weren't swinging at bad pitches early in the count."
Oakley McLain was 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBI while Peder Sviggum was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI. Neither freshman started the season in a varsity uniform.
"It's more surprising when they don't get on base," Hockinson said.
Junior Andrew Johnson added two hits and an RBI.
Ryan Overby used his fastball to earn the complete-game win. Hockinson estimated the senior threw three curveballs. Overby allowed one earned run and struck out nine.
"He had confidence in just reaching back and throwing it instead of being too cute," Hockinson said.
