UPDATE: Man killed in Zumbrota crash

A Lake St. Croix Beach, Minn., man was killed Sunday morning in a head-on crash on Highway 52 near Zumbrota.

Authorities said 39-year-old David E. Lee was driving northbound in the southbound lane when he struck a vehicle driven by Jesus Vargas, 22, of Rochester.

Vargas was taken to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester with non-life threatening injuries, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

A hospital spokeswoman said Monday evening that Vargas was not listed as a patient at St. Marys.

Alcohol was detected in both drivers' systems and neither man was wearing a seat belt, authorities said.

The crash happened just before 3:30 a.m. Lake St. Croix Beach is a small town just east of Woodbury.
