AUSTIN, Minn. — The third-seeded Buccaneers pounded out 13 hits and scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth to win a route in the Section 1A West Tournament.
Seventh-grader Kailee Berquam took the loss, striking out two and walking two in 4 2/3 innings.
“They’re a pretty good hitting team and she quieted them down the first four innings,” K-W coach Matt Nelson said.
Nicole Lubahn, a senior, and Katelyn Schaefer, a junior, both collected two hits. However, the sixth-seeded Knights didn’t receive much production from the bottom of their lineup, according to Nelson.
K-W (4-17 overall) will play Medford at 10 a.m. Saturday in Austin.
