Letter: Temporary tax increase? No way

Seeing as how Senator Murphy is always seeing the need to justify his positions, I would appreciate if he would itemize the number of “temporary tax increases” that have been discontinued in the past (R-E May 1.)

To the Editor:

Seeing as how Senator Murphy is always seeing the need to justify his positions, I would appreciate if he would itemize the number of “temporary tax increases” that have been discontinued in the past (R-E May 1.) When he reaches 10, no five, no two or three, I will be satisfied.

“Temporary tax increases?” What color is the sky in his world?

Better question, how easily duped does he think we are?

Equally amazing is his statement that his Senate cohorts’ proposals won’t make Minnesota the highest taxed state in the nation; there will still be a couple states on the two coasts that pay more that we will.

We won’t be No. 1 That’s supposed to make Minnesotan feel better?

All forms of government have, and always have had, a spending problem. There is never enough revenue to satisfy all the non-essential and wasteful programs involved.

Cut spending. Provide essential services; forget about the social engineering and “wouldn’t it be nice” programs. There will be pain involved, but look around, it’s already here for most Minnesotans.

That’s what recessions cause, pain. If it felt like a three-day weekend, it wouldn’t be called recession.
