Fishing class for children ages 8 years and older will meet from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. May 12, 14 and 19. Participants will learn about fishing including fishing techniques, laws and conservation at the first session. The next two sessions will be spent fishing on the banks of the Mississippi River. Cost is $15. Bring a fishing rod, tackle box and life jacket. Meet by the pool concession stand at Colvill Park. Class size is limited.

Sports camp dates

The summer sports camps conducted by Winger coaches will start on the following dates: Baseball June 8; diving June 9; girls hockey June 8; boys basketball June 16; girls basketball June 22; track June 22; tennis June 22; volleyball June 29; boys hockey July 6; football July 27. Most camps are for youth currently in grades 3-9.

Tennis leagues

Separate men’s and women’s singles tennis leagues are being organized. Play begins the week of June 9, and includes one match per week throughout the summer. Games are scheduled Tuesday nights but matches can be played anytime at the consent of both players. Cost is $13. Meet new friends and enjoy the competition. Sign up by May 26.

Kickball league

Anyone interested in playing in kickball league should contact Dave Borgen at (651) 385-4565 by April 30. League play begins May 13. Teams are coed, 10 people in the field with a minimum of four women. Play is Wednesday nights at A.P. Anderson Park. Cost is $225 per team. Kickball is perfect for businesses, neighborhood groups or any group of friends.

Winger softball clinic

Softball clinic for girls in grades 2-7 will be from 1 to 3 p.m. May 9 at the Red Wing High School softball field. Participants will be special guests at the 11 a.m. Wingers vs. Byron softball game. Cost is $18.

Tae Kwon Do

A new session of Tae Kwon Do class begins today from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the lower H Pod at Red Wing High School. The 12 sessions cost $40. Beginner level students meet the first hour and advanced level students meet second hour.

Colvill Aquatic Center

Colvill Aquatic Center will be open daily June 6-Aug. 16. Public swimming will be noon-7 p.m. every day. Groups are welcome; contact Dave Borgen at (651)385-4565 for reservations. Season passes and discounted coupon books will be available.

Swimming lessons

Registration is open for youth Red Cross progressive lessons at Colvill Pool. Morning classes for youth age 40 months and older will be at the Colvill pool. Two-week, 10-lesson sessions are Monday-Friday. Sessions begin June 15, July 6, July 20 and Aug. 3. Lessons are 45 minutes and begin at 10 and 11 a.m. Cost is $47. Please indicate swim lesson level when registering.
