“We have been holding Bling and Chocolate for women,” Director Char Henn said, but that event is geared for women.
They bid on jewelry, handbags and scarves while enjoying chocolate desserts and punch.
“We decided to ‘gear’ up for men, too,” Henn said, adding that women are welcome, too. They will bid at silent and oral auctions while enjoying chili, beer and cookies/bars. There’ll also be a chance to win prizes at games.
The first event last year featured items such as wildlife art, fresh salmon, tools, fishing trips, airplane rides, cowboy movies and the like.
Donations of similar items are being gathered now, Henn said. Anyone who would like to donate a service, a product, a gift certificate, I.O.U. or merchandise should contact her at the History Center, 1166 Oak St., (651) 388-6024 or chargchs@qwestoffice.net. Donations are tax-deductible.
Tickets to Gear and Beer are $15 and include one free beer and one bowl of chili. They can be purchased at the Goodhue County History Center, Hallstrom’s Florist, and the Red Wing Republican Eagle.
