Anne Elizabeth Zirnhelt, 92, of Red Wing, died Sunday at the Villa at Hi-Park.
Anne Elizabeth Zirnhelt, 92, of Red Wing, died Sunday at the Villa at Hi-Park. She was born March 6, 1917, in Red Wing to Dr. Thomas and Ida (Fridell) Alexander. She grew up in Wishek, N.D., attended school there and later went to Business School in Grand Forks, N.D.
She married Raymond Zirnhelt on Dec. 26, 1944, in Hazelton, N.D., and they moved to Red Wing in 1945. She was a member of the Church of St. Joseph, its St. Anne's Altar Society and Women's Circle, was past president of Leo C. Peterson American Legion Auxiliary and belonged to the Red Wing Golf Club Bridge Club. She had worked at the City Hospital and then at the Interstate Medical Clinic. Raymond died Dec. 13, 1985.
She is survived by four children, George (Susan) Zirnhelt of Lilydale, Minn., Jean (Chuck Martinez) Zirnhelt of Pagosa Springs, Colo., Kathy (Wee Tai Hom) Zirnhelt of New York, N.Y., and Tom (Vicki) Zirnhelt of Zimmerman, Minn; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond, and an infant son, Joseph Anthony Zirnhelt
Mass of Resurrection will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, at the Church of St. Joseph with Father Thomas M. Kommers presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the Mass at the church. The family would like to thank Dar Reek and all of the care staff at St. Brigid's at Hi Park.
