International art show

A painting of Boathouse Village by Red Wing student Blake Schammel is among the featured works in the Sister Cities International 2008 Young Artist exhibit on display during March at the Red Wing Arts Association Depot Gallery. An international winner, the painting is part of a touring exhibit.

A public reception for the touring show, which includes the top art works from around the world, is planned this afternoon at the gallery. Winners from the local 2009 contest also are being displayed at the Depot.

‘Vagina Monologues’

CVRO concert

The Cannon Valley Regional Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Paul Niemisto, will perform at the Paradise Center for the Arts in Faribault, Minn. The orchestra consists of amateur musicians from throughout the area, including Red Wing.

Titled “Finland Memories,” the concert will present both traditional and more modern music. Featured soloist will be Dr. Jun Qian on clarinet.
