School officials await federal stimulus dollars

Federal stimulus money will be coming to Red Wing schools, though it's unclear how much — and for what.
Special education will be among the recipients, said Goodhue County Education District Director Cherie Johnson. But, she said, "We'll have to be careful and creative in how we use that money."
Districts undertaking so-called "green initiatives" also will be eligible for stimulus dollars, said Facilities and Grounds Director Kevin Johnson. He said that will likely reduce the cost of a district solar-panel project by 30 percent.
