Robert D. Ofstie, 66, of Zumbrota, died on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Robert D. Ofstie, 66 of Zumbrota, died on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, March 5, 2009, at 11 a.m. at United Redeemer Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with the Rev. Tom Isaacson officiating. There will be a private family burial. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, March 4, 2009 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Larson Chapel in Zumbrota.

Robert Donald Ofstie was born on Sept. 11, 1942, in Zumbrota, Minn., to Adolph J. and Ivaline R. (nee Berg) Ofstie. He grew up in Zumbrota and graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1960. On Dec. 5, 1959, he married Janet K. Mark at United Lutheran Church in Zumbrota. They made their home in Zumbrota.

Robert owned Goodhue Feed and Produce, drove truck for Monson Dray Line in Red Wing, did carpentry work for Hart Construction, drove truck for Stagecoach Express in Hastings, and worked for Custom Retaining Wall and River Valley Power and Sport in Rochester. Robert was a Luther League adviser, and a member of United Redeemer Lutheran Church, Goodhue Lions Club and Zumbro Valley Rifle Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, wood crafting, and outdoor activities.

Robert is survived by his wife, Janet; his children, Bryce (Karen) Ofstie of Duluth, Brenda (Tim) Connelly of Rochester and Robert Richard (Betty) Ofstie of Wanamingo; five grandchildren, Jeremiah and Tyler Morgan, Jenna and Jill Ofstie and Rachel Ofstie.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Alton Ofstie; and sister, Natalie Ann Meyer. Honorary bearers are Jim and Nyola Benitt, Jim and Connie Wendt, Barb and Jerry Rauvola, Barb and Richard Hart, Bill Eberhart and Tom Henderson. The family suggests memorials to donor's choice.
