CHASKA, Minn. (AP) — A Zumbrota man faces up to four years in prison after being convicted of giving his girlfriend a lethal dose of his prescription methadone.

Thirty-eight-year-old Anthony J. Aunan was convicted of second-degree manslaughter in the death of 38-year-old Jenifer Stodola. Aunan will be sentenced April 10.

Stodola died at her Chaska home in October 2007 after Aunan gave her some of his prescribed methadone for pain relief. Aunan was enrolled in a treatment program for his heroin addiction.

Evidence at trial showed Stodola was drunk at the time. Though that was a factor, a forensic pathologist testified that the methadone was to blame.

Carver County Attorney Jim Keeler says Minnesota sentencing guidelines recommend a prison sentence of 48 months.
