Cora Barlette Christenson, 91, of Ellsworth, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, at the River Falls Area Hospital.

Cora Barlette Christenson, 91, of Ellsworth, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, at the River Falls Area Hospital.

Cora was born on March 11, 1917, in Beldenville, Wis., the daughter of Carl and Minnie (Solveson) Christopherson. She married Raymond Christenson on Sept. 3, 1940. Cora was a stenographer in her early years and later worked at various Ellsworth businesses and professional offices, retiring from the Service Agency.

She was known for her quilting, crocheting, knitting, doily making, and Scandinavian baking. Cora also volunteered within the community at various events. Cora was a longtime, active member of English Lutheran Church, Ellsworth.

Survived by daughter Judy (Stu) Vandenberg of Mound, Minn.; son, Jerry (Jo) Christenson of Rochester, Minn.; five grandchildren, Chris Arneson, Mike Vandenberg, Sara Vandenberg, Tiffany (Chad) Christenson Bieniek and Joel Christenson; sisters-in-law Florence Kline and Florence Christenson of Ellsworth and Clara Hull of Hot Springs, Ariz. Cora is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives and friends.

Her husband Ray and three brothers, Marvin, Hilmar, and Lemoine Christopherson preceded her in death.

Funeral services for Cora will be Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, at 11 a.m. at English Lutheran Church, Ellsworth. The Rev. Lauryl Stockness will officiate. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Ellsworth. Visitation will be on Wednesday evening from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Hill Funeral Home, Ellsworth, and for one hour prior to the funeral at the church Thursday. Pallbearers will be Cora's grandchildren and grandson-in-law: Chris Arneson, Michael and Sara Vandenberg, Tiffany Christenson Bieniek, Chad Bieniek and Joel Christenson.
