The winner of the 26th John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon is expected to come in at around 2 or 3 p.m. today to the finish line at Billy's Bar on Jean Duluth Road in Duluth.By: Andy Greder, Forum Communications Co.
The winner of the 26th John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon is expected to come in at around 2 or 3 p.m. today to the finish line at Billy's Bar on Jean Duluth Road in Duluth.
Six of 21 mushers remain on a fast-paced and hard trail that have been hard on mushers and sled dogs. Jason Barron of Lincoln, Mont., leads John Stetson of Duluth and Blake Freking of Finland, Minn., with Peter McClelland of Ely and Jennifer Freking, Blake's wife, further back on Highway 2.
Colleen Wallin is sixth, still resting in Finland as of 9:04 a.m.
In 2008, 15 mushers withdrew during the race, while 12 finished.
