UPDATE: Pine Island crash survivor released from hospital

Brenton Sather, 19, of Pine Island, suffered serious injuries in the crash that killed another 19-year-old Pine Island man, according to authorities.

The survivor Saturday's fatal crash in Pine Island was released today from St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Sather, the driver of the car, was wearing his seat belt and was released from the hospital this morning, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Authorities have not released the victim's name but say he was found dead at the scene just south of Pine Island.

The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. when the vehicle lost control and rolled, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The victim was ejected, authorities said. Road conditions were icy at the time. It is unknown if alcohol was a factor.
