"For The Sake of a Single Poem" is a new song-cycle Maurer has been composing for the past eight years. It features the writings of German poet Rainer Maria Rilke set to jazz-tinged gospel and art song.

The performance will feature eight poems set to music in a range of styles, plus additional material.
Joining Maurer on stage will be Bierbrauer, who is a soloist with the Minnesota Orchestra, along with three musicians - bass player Jeff Engholm from Collective Unconscious, cellist Laura Handler of The Lyra Baroque Orchestra, and freelance saxophone player Rich Manik.
