Man stabs himself at restaurant

A 27-year-old man was hospitalized early Saturday after apparently stabbing himself in the chest.

A 27-year-old man was hospitalized early Saturday after apparently stabbing himself in the chest.

Red Wing police responded at 3:29 a.m. to Norton's Downtown restaurant, 307 Main St., following a report of an attempted suicide. Officers found the man with a stab wound to the chest.

He was taken to Fairview Red Wing Medical Center, then airlifted to another medical facility. Police would not release the man's name, citing medical privacy laws. His condition was not disclosed.

The man was with a member of the restaurant's cleaning staff, according to initial reports. The restaurant was closed for business at the time of the incident. Police said the incident remains under investigation.
