Red Wing City Council on Monday agreed to pay the building permit fee and other fees, some $9,462, for the Central Park Band shell project using money from the its own contingency fund.
City officials chose to pay the fees with contingency money instead of waiving them for accounting reasons.
The Jones Family Foundation is funding the project, which will install a new band shell to be used for musical and theatrical performances in Red Wing's Central Park. The band shell will be gifted to the city.
