Daniel W. "Don" Webster, 89, of Rochester, formerly Mazeppa, died Friday in Rochester.

Daniel W. "Don" Webster, 89, of Rochester, formerly Mazeppa, died Friday in Rochester. Born July 8, 1919, in Mazeppa to William and Elizabeth (Wagner) Webster, he attended school in Mazeppa and graduated from Mazeppa High School in 1937.

@death of veteran: He worked for a time at CCC Camp before entering the U.S. Army where he served in World War II in the European Theatre. On July 15, 1943, he married Vivian Hoffman at Camp Blanding, Fla. Following his discharge, the couple returned to Mazeppa and he attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis.

@Normal: He worked for the City of Mazeppa at the Municipal Light Plant as an electrician then later for NSP. He was a charter member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and a member of the Mazeppa American Legion Post 588, as well as a member of the senior citizens. He enjoyed gardening, raising roses and watching birds.

Survivors include his wife, Vivian, of Rochester; one son, Donald (Marietta) of Bloomington, Minn.; three daughters, Janet (Jim) Williams of Rochester, Margaret (Lee) Timmerman of Phoenix, Ariz., and Katherine (Joe) Camp of Edina, Minn.; six grandchildren; and one sister, Adelaide Ludwar of St. Paul. He was preceded in death by one brother, John Vincent; and one granddaughter, Abigail.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Mazeppa with the Revs. Robert G. Meyer and Caesar Dralega officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church. Casketbearers will be Joe Camp Jr., Jim Williams, Jack Webster, Josh Malinski, Greg Kirchhoff, Ryan Bellew, Pat Storey and Asher Timmerman. Honorary casketbearers will be Lee Timmerman and Jesse Timmerman. American Legion Post 588 of Mazeppa and the Mazeppa Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the church. Private burial of cremated remains will be in the church cemetery.
