A familiar Bible story set to music, "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," will be performed Nov. 20-23 at United Redeemer Lutheran Church, 560 W. Third St., Zumbrota.
A cast of community members has been rehearsing under the direction of Aaron Schumacher, music teacher at Zumbrota-Mazeppa Middle School.
The musical "Joseph" was written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. It tells the story of Joseph and his ability interpret dreams.
Joseph receives a beautiful coat of many colors from his father, Jacob, but it makes him a target for his angry, jealous brothers, who betray him. Made a slave, he becomes advisor to the pharaoh.
The "amazing technicolor dreamcoat" in the production was made by Mary Anne Moechnig of Zumbrota.
The show has no spoken dialogue. Instead, the story is told in musical numbers ranging from rock 'n' roll to ballads, Western tunes and calypso songs and more. Familiar titles include "Any Dream Will Do" and "One More Angel in Heaven."
Tickets are $5. To order, call Karen Whitaker at (507) 732-7461 days.
