Marion “Doris” Kyllo, 92, of Rochester, formerly of Red Wing, died Friday at Madonna Meadows Assisted Living.
Marion “Doris” Kyllo, 92, of Rochester, formerly of Red Wing, died Friday at Madonna Meadows Assisted Living. Born in Belle Creek Township to Albro and Minnie (Johnson) Martenson, she attended school in the area and married Hiram Kyllo in 1937 at Vasa Lutheran Church. They lived in Rochester and Red Wing before moving to California in 1951. While in California, they lived in San Rafael, where he worked as a general contractor. After he retired in 1973 they moved back to Minnesota and lived in Kenyon. He died in 1990. She lived in Cannon Falls until 2004, when she moved to Madonna Meadows in Rochester. She was a member of Vasa Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, horseback riding and animals.
Survivors include two children, Kellan (Gena) of New Braunfels, Texas, and Bonnie (Val) Mercer of Rochester; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Hazel Olson of California and Lou Ann Heins of Washington. She was preceded in death by her husband; one brother, Alton Martenson; and a baby sister.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Vasa Lutheran Church with the Rev. Michael Dobbins officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren Erica and Nels Kyllo, Ella Collins, Liv Garcia and Miles Mercer. Honorary pallbearer will be her granddaughter, Addie Mercer-Zannas. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
