The Best of Show award for the Red Wing Arts Association’s 42nd annual Fall Festival of the Arts, held Oct. 11-12, was presented to Art Kenyon of Red Wing.
The juried fine arts festival featured 93 artists.
Merit Award winners were Chuck Goranowski, Welch, and Andrew Kringen, Grand Rapids, Minn.
Two judges granted the awards based on artistic merit of the entire body of work exhibited, originality, craftsmanship and quality of work, as well as professionalism and effectiveness of the display.
Kenyon’s works include oils and acrylics, detailed graphite portrait drawings, original hand drawn lithographs, Intaglio copperplate etchings and original woodcut prints. In the words of the judges, “His work reveals a sensitivity and a power ... leaving no question as to who was Best of Show.”
Goranowski creates high quality, one-of-a-kind glass pieces. He manipulates hot glass into colorful free-form vases, bowls and roundels.
Kringen creates original functional and decorative designs combining wood inlay and laminated wood to make mirrors, boxes, vases and other pieces of woods from around the world.
