Leo William Ahrendt, 87, formerly of Red Wing, died Thursday.
Leo William Ahrendt, 87, formerly of Red Wing, died Thursday. Born Dec. 6, 1920 in Meckling, S.D., he married Alice Lawrence on July 11, 1946.
@death of veteran: He was a World War II veteran. The couple moved to Red Wing in 1963 and owned and operated Leo's Burnside Market until 1979. They then retired to travel and spend time with their family.
@Normal: Survivors include four children: Garry of Rimrock, Ariz., Lynn of Menomonie, Wis., Cathy (Don) Averbeck of Hugo, Minn., and Douglas (Susan) of Red Wing; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; seven siblings, Don (Tess) of South Dakota, Lois Nelson of California, Maxine Burrell of South Dakota, Carol Nuss of Nebraska, Marian Zambon of South Dakota, Ronald of California and Russell (Kaye) of Iowa. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice; two sons, Billy and James; one granddaughter, Dorian Ahrendt; and sisters Clara Burrell and Dorothy Bruce.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Presbyterian Homes of Arden Hills, 3220 Lake Johanna Blvd., Arden Hills, MN 55122. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
