Editorial: Run for school board

Ready to soar: Two people have filed for Red Wing School Board. Two. There are four seats up for re-election. We encourage anyone who cares about public education, who cares about future leadership and who cares about the community to consider running for office.

You have until 5 p.m. Tuesday to file at the district office, which is in the high school.

Soaring high: Minnesota looked pretty good during the Republican National Convention, which ended Thursday night. A couple hundred delegates and a handful of journalists made it this far south and found a taste of Midwestern life — the good and the bad.

As a Toronto National Post reporter wrote, “In Red Wing, Minn., a man still can go to work at an American factory and stride home in the boots he built.”

We think that’s a mighty fine thing.
