The LeDuc Historic Estate is a 15-room, national register Gothic Revival mansion DCHS operates on behalf of the City of Hastings. Built between 1862 and 1866, the Estate is a historic house museum offering guided tours focused on one of Minnesota's most important yet little known early families.
The LeDuc Historic Estate is a 15-room, national register Gothic Revival mansion DCHS operates on behalf of the City of Hastings. Built between 1862 and 1866, the Estate is a historic house museum offering guided tours focused on one of Minnesota's most important yet little known early families. The site is also the most intact example of a site designed by Andrew Jackson Downing remaining in the United States.
The Dakota County Historical Society has been collecting, preserving and presenting the history of Dakota County since 1939. DCHS operates the Lawshe Memorial Museum and research library in South St. Paul as well as the LeDuc Historic Estate in Hastings. The Lawshe Memorial Museum holds over 7,000 square feet of exhibit space, storage for more than 16,000 artifacts and one of the best equipped local history research libraries in the state. Researchers can ulitize DCHS resources in person or via web-based databases and website.
