To the Editor:
As the "non-profit" Fairview struggles to solve its problems with the equally struggling "non-profit" Blue Cross, it appears that the customers of each will bear the burden in either higher costs or poorer service. While the Fairview managers look for solutions for some way to cut expenses, it might be instructive to check the list of highest paid non-profit CEO's found on the Star Tribune Web site.
For 2006, the last year available, the CEO's of both of these "non-profits" earned well in excess of
$1 million.
The salaries of various vice presidents and other underlings are not shown, but it might be reasonable to suspect they do OK too. But it's not just them. The top 12 Minnesota non-profit CEOs on this list were all in the health care field, with eight earning over $1 million.
