An 82-year-old Red Wing man could face property damage charges for allegedly smashing in a vehicle’s headlamp.

Red Wing police said a witness heard glass shatter Saturday near Perlich Avenue and Village Drive. The headlamp of a van belonging to Gerald Stewart, Red Wing, was found smashed. The witness confronted the suspect, who was allegedly holding a hammer — but denied involvement.

The suspect later admitted to the damage, Red Wing police Chief Tim Sletten said, adding that the man will likely be charged.
