EHS girls' hoops winners again

Ellsworth High School's girls basketball team won it's second Middle Border Conference game this season beating Osceola Thursday evening 47-39.

OSCEOLA - Ellsworth High School's girls basketball team won it's second Middle Border Conference game this season beating Osceola Thursday evening 47-39.

The Panthers came back from an early deficit by outscoring the Chieftains 18-8 in the second quarter for a 25-19 halftime lead. They held onto that advantage throughout the second half and decisively outscored Osceola 10-6 in the fourth quarter. This was much unlike the previous meeting between the two squads where Ellsworth's halftime lead evaporated in the second half and led to a loss. EHS had one its best nights shooting from the field making 44 percent of its field goals.

Although EHS has a 3-17 overall record, 2-11 in the MBC, they have split their last four games at 2-2 and even in their recent losses to Lake City, Minn., River Falls and Prescott they have played well enough to be in contention to the last minute.

Ellsworth closes its regular season Thursday at conference champion Baldwin-Woodville. They find out about their first round regional tournament match-up this weekend as a pairings are being set.
