Marilyn I. Richter, 77, of Zumbrota

Marilyn I. Richter, 77, of Zumbrota, died Saturday at Zumbrota Health Services. Born June 13, 1931, in Dodge County to John and Sylvia (Bakke) Weis, she grew up in rural Goodhue County and graduated from Zumbrota High School. She moved to Red Wing and in 1951 and married Earl Richter. They later divorced. She worked as an inspector for Red Wing Shoe Co. for 26 years, retiring in 1993. In 1999 she moved to Zumbrota. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and feeding the birds.

Survivors include by five daughters, Mary (Steve) Grote and Cathy Striemer, Diane (Brian) Richter-Biwer, and Rita (Bruce Matthees) Gadient, all of Zumbrota, and Teresa (Tom) Gadient of Red Wing; two sons, Michael (Nancy) and David (Roberta Erie), both of Red Wing; seven grandchildren; one brother, Russell Weis of Zumbrota; and one sister, Phyllis (Jim) Buehler of West Concord, Minn. She was preceded in death by one sister, Johnell Buck.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Larson Chapel in Zumbrota. Private burial will be in Land Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Heartland Hospice.
