Renay T. Olson, 87, of Northfield, formerly of Cannon Falls

Renay T. Olson, 87, of Northfield, formerly of Cannon Falls, died Friday at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. Born Aug. 22, 1920, in White Rock, Minn., the daughter of E.T. and Ellen (Clauson) Swenson, she graduated from the Cannon Falls High School in 1938. She was a lifelong member of the Spring Garden Lutheran Church, where she was baptized, confirmed and married. She married LuVerne A. Olson on June 25, 1941. He died Nov. 6, 2007. She was active in the Willing Workers and sewing circle at church. They farmed in Leon Township. She enjoyed traveling through all 50 states, bowling, and crocheting

Survivors include four sons, David (Patricia), Larry (Carol) and John (Janice), all of Cannon Falls, and Paul (Mary) of Apple Valley, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Norma Diercks of Red Wing and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband; an infant daughter; a great-granddaughter and brother, Wallace Swenson.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Spring Garden Lutheran Church with the Rev. Diane Goulson officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Kerry, Bjorn, Ian, Jay, Jeremy, Joshua and Thomas Olson. Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters, Kim Alstrup, Kristi Schaut, Robyn Berg, Tricia and Jamie Olson. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church today. Memorials are preferred to donor's choice. Arrangements by Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls.
