NEW RICHMOND - No. 4 ranked Ellsworth kept the Middle Border Conference wrestling title again for another season after finishing first in the conference meet Saturday.
The Panthers scored 263 points while No. 7 Amery was second with 215. Prescott finished fifth with 114 points.
Ellsworth crowned five champions in the meet including new three-time champion Jens Lantz, who pinned Amery's Logan Martell in 2:51 in the finals. The Brad Cain edged New Richmond's Derek Dowd to win the 126-pound title; Logan Kemmerer, wrestling his first action since before Christmas, took the 152-pound title with a 3-1 decision over Mitch Nichols of Amery; Hank Holdorf won at 170 with a 4-0 decision over Max Praschak of Somerset and Jake Murphy won at 195 by a 5-3 decision over Eli Newton of Amery.
EHS brought half its team to the finals and had two runner ups in Gabe Frandsen at 160, losing a close 9-6 match to Somerset's Gabe Flandrick in the finals, and Brodey Kemmerer at heavyweight. EHS also had six of its wrestlers finish in third place. The lowest finish Ellsworth had was fourth.
Prescott did not have an individual champion. Troy Urman made it to the finals at 145 but lost a major decision to Baldwin-Woodville's Tyler Weyer. Alex Stuhl at 126 and Tyler Miller 160 both placed third.
Both Pierce County teams will participate in the WIAA Division 2 St. Croix Central regional meet next Saturday in Hammond.
