Letter: Newspaper ignores two big dates

To the Editor:

Memorial Day is past, and everyone is back from the long weekend. What a turnout at Bay Point Park to help us remember why the day is special.

I would like to pass on some very important days in history. One is June 3-6 1942, and the other is June 6, 1944. I wish the Eagle would have put just a little reminder in the paper for these dates.

The first is the Battle of Midway. It was a major turning point in the Pacific. The second is what we know today as D-Day.

There are still a few men left that were there at these places, so if you know any of them, give them a big thanks for what the gave us and what they gave many other countries of this world. With any luck, maybe the Eagle will remember say thanks to these men next June.
