Richard Lillico Myers, 60, Albert Lea, Minn., died Monday at his home following a short battle with cancer.

Richard Lillico Myers, 60, Albert Lea, Minn., died Monday at his home following a short battle with cancer. Born Sept. 3, 1947, to Robert Louis and Margaret Marion (Lillico) Myers in Albert Lea, he was a lifelong resident of Albert Lea and a 1966 graduate of Albert Lea High School. He attended Austin Junior College and St. Cloud State College, majoring in business.

He served in the U.S Army during the Vietnam War. He married Karen Wells on Sept. 2, 2000, in Red Wing. They owned and operated Myers Trucking Co. He was a member of United Methodist Church in Albert Lea, and a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Shriner’s, and the Elks Lodge of Albert Lea. He enjoyed water skiing, welding, and scuba diving.

Survivors include his wife, Karen; children Paula Myers and partner Rita Rehome-Myers of Salem, Ore., and Robert Myers (Meridith) of Redmond, Ore.; stepchildren Bryce Wells of Homestead, Fla., and Korrin (Clint) Crossno of Spring Hill, Tenn.; mother Margaret Myers of Albert Lea; sisters Judith Kinsey (Jim) of West Concord, Minn., Janet Nafe (Bill) of Hager City, and Susan Gerber (Bob) of Minnetonka, Minn.; and one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Myers of Albert Lea.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, Albert Lea, with the Rev. John Bromeland officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery with military honors by Freeborn County veterans organizations. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to the American Diabetes Association.
