Middle schoolers struggling with reading made dramatic progress this school year, Red Wing School Board members learned Monday.

Twin Bluff Middle School teacher Terri Haugen said the Read 180 program saw major improvements in grades

6 through 8. Eighth-grade students enrolled in the program improved by 195 program points — 120 points higher than typical gains made in a school year.

“The results are amazing,” School Board member Neela Mollgaard said.
