Woman pilot recalls WWII experiences

WABASHA — Elizabeth Strofus, a member of the Women Air Force Service during World War II, will speak Sunday at the National Eagle Center, 50 Pembroke St., Wabasha.

WABASHA — Elizabeth Strofus, a member of the Women Air Force Service during World War II, will speak Sunday at the National Eagle Center, 50 Pembroke St., Wabasha.

She will sign her book, “And Still Flying ... The Life and times of Elizabeth Wall,” at 1 p.m., and present a program at 2 p.m. in the River Gallery Classroom.

Strofus, who has flown an F-16 at age 71 and a B-17 at age 82, will tell stories about women pilots and their experiences flying military aircraft during the war.

The Memorial weekend tribute aims to honor women and men in the military. The program is free with a paid admission to the National Eagle Center. For more information, call (651) 565-4989.
