Court Services feels some relief
Allowing the Goodhue County Court Services Department to hire a probation officer last year helped lower the department’s caseloads within acceptable limits in the juvenile division.
Allowing the Goodhue County Court Services Department to hire a probation officer last year helped lower the department’s caseloads within acceptable limits in the juvenile division.
Court Services Director Joanne Pohl told commissioners Tuesday that the additional probation officer lowered the caseload average in both adult and juvenile divisions to 91.
“We’re feeling good about that,” Pohl said.
She noted that average should be between 78 and 80 to provide the best services but that 91 is “doable.”
Outlining her 2007 annual report, Pohl also told commissioners the number of juveniles referred for probation services in 2007 was down 5 percent but the number of cases juveniles were involved in increased.
The number of adults referred for probation was down 11 percent; the number of cases was also down, Pohl said.
