Eloise B. Mobley, 90, of Lake City, died Feb. 18, 2008, at Mission Nursing Home in Mission, Texas.
Eloise B. Mobley, 90, of Lake City, died Feb. 18, 2008, at Mission Nursing Home in Mission, Texas. Born Oct. 15, 1917, to Oscar and Berdine Tuftee in Austin, Minn., she and her family moved frequently over the years and settled in Albert Lea, Minn. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1935, where she met her future husband, Claude. They eloped to Iowa in 1938. He died in 2001.
She received her teaching degree in 1937 from Winona State. She was a teacher for 47 years; her last teaching job was at Washington, Jefferson and Bluffview Schools in Lake City. She was involved in many organizations, including Camp Fire Girls, public library, the Order of the Eastern Star, Retired Educators Association of Minnesota, South Eastern Retired Educators Association of Minnesota and the Lake City Country Club. She was also a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church and United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Jacquelyn Cronin of Woodbury, Minn.; her significant other, Richard Burton of Scandia, Minn.; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; and one brother, Rollin Tuftee.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Lake City. Memorials are preferred to Lake City Education Foundation, Lake City Public Library, the United Methodist Church or donor's choice.
