Letter: Quit sparring and start helping veterans

To the Editor: Once again I cannot help but wonder: Is Minnesota Sen. Steve Murphy, a Red Wing Democrat who served in the U.S. Marine Corp, more of an American than U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman, Republican, or are they both just more politicians? I can think of things that show the later.

To the Editor:

Once again I cannot help but wonder: Is Minnesota Sen. Steve Murphy, a Red Wing Democrat who served in the U.S. Marine Corp, more of an American than U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman, Republican, or are they both just more politicians? I can think of things that show the later.

Coleman did not agree with some DFL votes, but did Murphy agree with a Republican veto? Once again I think not.

If I remember right, the state has put a bill to exempt state taxes from active duty members of are military and exempt taxes from the retired pay of military members but it has not made it to the governor's desk, for the second year in a row.

On the other hand, Coleman and fellow members of Congress, including President Bush, have had 100 percent concurrent receipt in front of their bodies since 1994. And it has failed to pass.

So Coleman and Murphy, instead of throw jabs and barbs at each other, as most politicians do, just do what they would say in the Navy, “Get off your backside, and turn two" and start helping all the vets!
