Teen Poetry Slam set at public library
Red Wing Public Library will hold its seventh annual poetry slam at 7 p.m. Monday. Middle school and high school students are invited to participate in the event celebrating National Poetry Month. Students can share a poem on the open mic or just listen. There will refreshments for everyone. This free event is sponsored by TOOL — Teens of Our Library.
As in the past, each table will be covered with paper and supplied with markers in case people are suddenly inspired. Several English, reading, and speech teachers are willing to give extra credit to those attending or performing.
Any teen wishing to do a reading can sign up at the reference desk or call (651) 385-3645. For ideas and inspiration, visit the display in the teen area of the library, highlighting poetry books and poetry writing how-to books.
