Victims of fatal Pine Island crash identified

Both men killed Tuesday in a one-vehicle rollover crash in Pine Island had been drinking alcohol, according to authorities.

Farah Ali, 20 and Yussuf Osman, 17, both of Rochester, were ejected from the vehicle when the driver lost control and rolled the van just before 6 a.m. on Highway 52, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Authorities are still trying to determine who was driving the van when it crashed.

Ali and Osman, according to authorities, were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

Both victims were taken to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, where they died a short time later, authorities said.

Authorities said road conditions were icy at the time of the crash.
