CANNON FALLS — Live music for dancing, food and a silent auction will be highlights of the annual Boogie to Beat Breast Cancer, scheduled for Saturday evening at Grandpa’s Event Center, 31846 65th Ave. Way.
The Loose Cannons, a local band, will perform. A buffet will be available from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The silent auction will run from 5:30 to 9 p.m., and dancing will be from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m.
Costs are $10 for the meal and a minimum $10 donation for the silent auction and dance. A cash bar will be available. Use of its facility is being donated by Grandpa’s, but owners ask that each person who attends bring a Food Shelf item.
Silent auction items will include gift certificates, gift baskets, art work, clothing and other useful and unique items.
Boogie to Beat Breast Cancer is a family event, sponsored by the DuBar Dolls Breast Cancer 3-Day team. Each member of the team must raise $2,200 to participate in the Susan G. Komen 60-mile, three-day walk. Funds raised through the walk support breast cancer research, diagnosis, treatment and education.
The DuBar team, which also held a volleyball tournament fundraiser, consists of Heidi Lindell, Glenda Lindell, Angela Lindell, Val Haggstrom, Katie Sjoblom, Courtney Rustad, Kris Bodette, Holly Jennings, Amy Onson and Michelle Lindell.
This year, half of the team members are currently nursing mothers whose babies will be brought to them during the walk.
The DuBar team was formed in memory of their parents and to honor Michelle Lindell in her battle with cancer. The name represents Du for DuWayne and Bar for Barb, Michelle’s parents.
