Hot Reads for Cold Nights 2008 will continue its series on Minnesota history with a program featuring senior exhibit developer and author Kate Roberts at 10 a.m. March 15 in the Foot Room at Red Wing Public Library.
Roberts’ book, “Minnesota 150: The People, Places and Things that Shape Our State,” is the companion to the current “Minnesota 150” exhibit at the Minnesota Historical Society celebrating the state’s sesquicentennial. Roberts, who has a doctorate from the University of Minnesota, was responsible for exhibit development at Mill City Museum.
From Bob Dylan to hockey to the American Indian Movement to Medtronic to Prohibition and gangsters, her book — and the exhibit — has a lot to say about the state’s history.
This program, which is sponsored by Friends of the Red Wing Library, the Friends Book Club and the Goodhue County History Center, is free and open to the public.
Hot Reads for Cold Nights is part of a three-month program celebrating Minnesota’ 150 years of history. Door prizes, book recommendations and author programs are part of Hot Reads. Register at any program or at the library reference desk and receive a reader’s bag.
